Each of Carol’s photographs represents one component of a self-portrait
– the emotional, physical, sexual, interpersonal, and spiritual
parts of herself. Each print symbolizes a part of the whole, and when
viewed together they mirror the essence of Carol – what she believes,
and how she views her inner and outer worlds. Each print tells a story,
shares a mood, or implies an action taking place – hinting at
the mystery and magic of the external world and the energy and creativity
of the inner world. As such her world speaks a universal language of
symbolism. Color, glowing light and moving energy are key elements to
her expressive photography. Her desire is to invoke an emotional or
spiritual response in the viewer, a response that will take the viewer
to a place of awakening and awareness.
Carol’s photographs are taken with a digital camera and enhanced
in her computer. These enhancements – while maintaining the integrity
of the image – accentuate the mood, meaning, and symbolism of
her vision. Each photograph is printed on white paper, leaving a boarder,
which allows room for the photograph to be set off by an appropriate
frame. Carol’s photographs are printed with archival inks on archival
paper – having a rated life-span of 75-100 years.
